Villanders - the sunny village in the Eisack Valley
The area around Villanders invites you to stay and enjoy - discover vineyards, chestnut groves, meadows, forests, farms, alpine pastures, hiking trails and much more.
The picturesque village centre of Villanders was the model for the painting "Das letzte Aufgebot" by the painter Franz Defregger. The alley characterises the village and is also worth a visit.

The cemetery is a unique ensemble with exclusively wrought-iron crosses. The special feature: the only cemetery in South Tyrol where the dead are buried in the direction of the sunrise and the devout stand behind the tomb.
Villanders Adventure Mine on the Pfunderer Mountain
The adventure mine at Pfunderer Berg near Villanders (South Tyrol) was one of the most important mining areas in Tyrol in the Middle Ages. After it was closed down at the beginning of the 20th century, it fell into oblivion. The mine at Pfunderer Berg has been renovated in recent years and is now one of the few mines in South Tyrol that can be visited by the public.
